“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
December 6, the Day of Saint Nicolas, we spent with our brothers and sisters in Nové Mesto nad Váhom for the School of leaders program.

This is the second time during this school year we have visited this church.  This time we had even more Kompas members attend. The usual crew of Denisa, Miriam and Daniel was expanded with Darinka Malá and Šimočko family, Jany and Lenka.

On Friday some youth group members, together with their pastor, welcomed us to be part of their youth meeting. It was great to see more students from youth group there as they often care for the younger kids in their church. We believe that personal relationships can very much help young kids in joining a youth group and can help their passion for knowing Christ and God’s word to grow.

After a short sleep, we started a very hard day. From 9 am,  we taught with the title, “Building of the FOUNDATIONS”.  At first, we looked at personal foundations and then on the foundations of youth group. We found out that every servant of God should go through 3 steps:  Building character, experience a calling into serving God and empowerment, that can come only through personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our service should never be more important than our relationship with God himself. Jesus said it clearly while talking to his disciples about The Vine and the Branches.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

We continued with basic foundations of our service. We talked about God’s word, Prayer, Vision of our service, Proper understanding of Jesus Christ, Love in community and at last, Relationships with people that are new in the youth group and how to relate to them.

On Sunday morning’s church meeting with Communion, we all laid our sins under the cross of Jesus Christ. We left really encouraged by the youth group members and their families. We are looking forward to meet our friends from Nové Mesto nad Váhom next week as they will come east to Prešov to visit us and again at the next meeting of School of Leaders in February.
